England 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Sumatra Black
Le Mans 2008

First off, congratulations to CG and his new family. suspect you are now aware who the new boss is. Trust me, it gets worse.
Le-Mans-we all met in Eastbourne on Wednesday night (wifes birthday, doh) My TR6, eldest sons Mk3 GT6, youngest sons Mk1 GTI Golf Campaign (CG youve got a long wait but its worth it) brothers Stag, a MK2 GT6 and the modern, a BMW M3 CSI (to carry the tools)
We caught the Chunnel early Thursday morning and on landing in Calais had a 325 mile run to Le Mans. an uneventful journey, Gendarmes out in force as usual. The last 50 miles were a blast off the main route, well signed, surfaced and largely empty roads, joy. Cant think where we could do this at home.
This year we went posh and camped on the Speed Chills site. Pre booked plot, secure compound, cold beer, more cold beer hot food and great showers/toilets. All a big plus. If you have had the pleasure of visiting Le-mans you will know exactly what I mean.
The main race this year was tactically fascinating and the best 2 teams won i.e Audi and Aston. The results were very close Audi beating Peugeot by 4 minutes due to Audi spending 10 minutes less in the pits.
Monday meant an early start for the dash back to Calais. Again an uneventful journey until England when the roof had to go up due to torrential rain on the M25.
Arrived home 12 hours after leaving Le-Mans. A great weekend, the cars behaved themselves which is more than can be said for the younger contingent who could not resist the cold beer on Friday night. They were drinking Earl Grey on saturday night which tells its own story!
It was good to climb into the FL2 and loose myself in the sheer comfort and luxury especially after travelling 850 miles in the Triumph.
Samutra black HSE TD4, privacy, side pipes and caps.

Not too late! - get the ferry booked for next week and get yourselves down to the Le Mans Classic 14 - 15th July.
We`re booked on the Wednesday night ferry from Hull (being up north) to Zeebrugge then have all Thursday to drive the back roads down through France and get to the hotel in Arnage. We`ve got some track time booked, so I`ll have the video out for that.
Can`t wait. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Got back after the long weekend at the Le Mans Classic.
What sums up the weekend? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Fantastic.
Cars that you think are so rare and exclusive are in lines of 3 or 4.
Did the track time - just over 2 laps of the full circuit in a 1928 Aston Martin!!!
The car we took down for the Heritage club won first in its class - so we were very "happy" especially after the hospitality champagne!
It really is an English Motor sport event that just happens to be held in France.
I can recommend it to anyone with the slightest interest in cars from any era.
Next one in 2010. Can`t wait. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Mmmm, Yes, about 291 + 90 minutes or so of video!!!
I`ll see if I can get a few up in the gallery.
PS The Freelander 2 interest is that we towed the car there and back (>1000miles) and returned 27 ish to the gallon. The 1928 Aston drove down there and was averaging 25!!!!!!! Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!
