How does one check for leaky injectors and if they are leaking the solution is to replace them right? Is this a major exercise like stripping down etc? I spoke to the technician yesterday and whilst he tried to calm down my rant by saying "anything can be fixed" he was at a loss to pinpoint the problem(this after a full week) but merely intimated that he will continue running more tests.

Seems like Alex has nailed this one.Based on his hunch with the increased fuel pressure causing a further deterioration on the start up(check the injectors he said),I did exactly that and the agent found 2 leaking.Repairs underway and vehicle should be ready today.

In sum:intermittent hard start 2-3 cranks,no fault codes;replaced fuel pump and filter which presumably because of increased pressure, made the hard start worse-no resolution;based on Alex's advice checked for leaky injectors(the increased pressure causes them to leak more making start up even more difficult);replaced 2 injectors and I am awaiting the outcome. Will let you all know how thing go.

Thanks ever so much.

So did the replacement injectors fixed your problem?

I am having a similar situation and I have a P0087 code on my LR2

I am about to replace the Fuel Pressure Sensor to see if it fixes it. Cuatro Por Cuatro

as time went on mine had a problem with hot starting too - the software update was designed to cure a vapour lock issue.

If you go to a Main Dealer I think they charge about £90 - £120 but you can find good Independants who are able to do it and they charge less.

Good luck

sorry I don't quite understand the question. You mean a Main Dealer or do you mean an Independent?

I would just ask them

in my case the Independant was using Autologic as a diagnostic tool. He had access to a technical help desk and they advised him to re-install the ecu software - which took about 40 minutes,

Since then the vehicle has started on the first press of the button - including during a trip to France last week when the temperature was considerable hotter!

Go and have a chat with your Independent and make your decision based on his response!

Good Luck

Could you update this thread with your findings, once you have them as this appears a common issue with the i6 engine Thumbs Up
