Replacement key fob

I have just had to get a new key fob, replacing one I have misplaced. It required reprogramming along with the one remaining one.
I was very surprised to find that the 'key' inside the fob was an extra. It is unique to the chassis number and as such is specially cut.
It has proved an expensive lesson. My insurance company would meet 50% of the costs. One Discovery, gone

England 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

Enlighten us, please. How much?

I was previously quoted £125 or so for a Subaru key. Fortunately the one I had mislaid was found and worked, even though having been under water for a day or so. Series 2A 1961, 1975-78, made to last forever.
Series 3 Lightweight, 1973, 1999 - 2012, still regret selling this car.
Freelander 1, 2005, 2005 - 2008, sold the minute its warranty expired.
Defender 90 200 TDi, 1985, 2012 - 2014, paid far too much for it.
Defender Wolf, 1998, 300 TDi, 2017 - 2019, too expensive to maintain and the Army hadn't.
Defender Puma, 2009, 2014 - 2014, not a sensible family car.
Freelander 2, 2012, current, is this the car to last?

I almost had the same problem after a Censored up holiday in benidorm and lost my key.
My sister was not happy coming out to manchester airport at 2AM with my spare.
2 days later i bit the bullet and booked my car in the LR in bury.
with in 30mins of doing that my mate rang me saying he forund the key in his bag, god know how it got there but thank god it was and not still in Spain.
Saved me a bob or two.

Thanks of top of my head they quoted £270 I6 WITH GAS CONVERSION
HST BODY KIT
OSRAM LED DRIVING FOGS
CARS LOOKING GOOOOD!
