I have just acquired a Freelander 2 (2011) and on looking under the battery cover it looks like some thing is missing from the air intake of the heater matrix, as I can see the fan assembly via a oblong hole in the bulk head. has anybody got any pictures of what I should be seeing, as I have tried to get a workshop manual but they are not being published until August 2014. |

There should be a flap which will close off that hole, but I think it would normally be open to allow fresh air in, possibly it operates and closes when something like the air re-circulation is on.

I have taken pictures the first is inside the bulk head through the battery cover opening showing the oblong opening and the second is the battery with the cover removed the opening is just through the small opening to the left of the battery.

I have checked and yes there is a flap that covers the opening from the inside when the recirculation button is pressed.
