Ok, bit more meat on the bone. Car been parked at an angle for last two days, go outside to start and stick it back on the drive, only get the message "HDC Fault refer to manual" fair enough, go to eject the key fob and guess what, frecking key wont eject. try disconnect the bty, touch pos to neg while both disconnected, key fob still stuck in, car will not start.

Get fob out of hole with use of plastic tie, but ignition is still on and the hole will not return to normal?

HELP!!!!!

HDC problems often appears on start up in the winter when the battery is low.

I would check the battery.

When my battery failed at 18 months, I also couldn't get the Fob out of the Dock.

Try these, google and you could find a discount code and get a bit off. I would get a slightly bigger battery, 70 ah is a bit low, would go for a 78ah at least

If you haven't already, you might like to consider fitting an extra Earth lead, as many have found that this also helped to alleviate the issue. There's plenty of discussion on here about it, do a search if needed. Thumbs Up Foraging near Gaydon....

@AD
I know, it's my pet hate especially when you do a search and don't know at the end of the thread whether it not it worked.

@ badger,
I've read about that, it's on my to do list. Smile

Great thread, I jumped in my FL2 this week, all the usual lights came on followed by the HDC message flashing up then disappearing and the dam key block stuck and unable to lock the car. To cut a long story short, I found this thread that suggested the battery and it was spot on.

Well done guys.

Me too!

Thanks for posting back to confirm low battery = majority of HDC faults. This happened to me in the darkness and pouring rain tonight. All manner of warning lights, key fob will not eject and finally HDC fault reported in the information centre. Symptoms are fairly typical of a battery too low to start the car but with just enough to power up auxiliary's, lights, etc.

Battery was down to 11.6v and is now being recharged. Car has not been used too much recently but having driven from Stanstead to Oxford to Bristol and between Bristol and Oxford over the last few days I'm surprised it had not recharged itself. More invest over the weekend Crying or Very sad

Alternator doesn稚 charge the battery it tops it up. I tend to Bench charge mines, while I carry out service. Every time it has been connected and charger switched on it draws a good few amps for about 30 minutes.

I was also once told at a training course that once bellow 12.4v the battery Plates start to deteriorate. So if it has been parked up at 11.6v the battery will be in pretty poor condition. I know there are smart chargers on the market that are quite effective at almost repairing the damaged caused.
