I am new to this Freelander stuff, having just got a 59 plate HSE, or it was advertised as such but there is no HSE on the back. just Freelander 2 on the bottom left and TD4 on the right. It appears to have all of the bells and whistles that an HSE has, so was it available without the HSE stick on or has it fallen off( a good start if it has) or have I been stupid and bought something less than i thought? Can you tell the model from the VIN plate details?

It should say on the V5 what model it is. Or if you don't have it yet put the reg no into ask mid. |

Similar issue with my GS, just "Freelander 2" & "TD4e" on the tailgate. From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos! |

Lots didn't have the badging. As said above, register with TOPIx and you'll be able to access the full spec. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Thanks for the info. I have looked it up on Topix and there is no mention of HSE. Would that be covered by some other code? It does show'TD4' in the right hand column of the print out, third from the bottom. Also, if no mention is made of DPF anywhere does that mean I am DPF free? |

59 plate would not have a DPF as standard, became standard MY11 in the UK.

Sometimes of course purchasers of new cars specify they DON'T want the badges (usually those who have a base line model I suspect!). They like to pretend to be a wolf in sheep's clothing rather than a sheep in wolves clothing!! |

FWIW, my HSE also has just "TD4" only. Askmid confirms it is HSE 160. I am not really bothered, "I" know it is an HSE, my V5 says it is HSE and it has all the bells & whistles I would expect! Any one else just sees a "Land Rover". 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Also works the other way for company cars - You can't have an obviously better car than the boss, but "debadging" makes it OK. They used to do this a lot in Germany, I'm told. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone 300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease 200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France FR2 TD4 GS - Gone FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge. |

Interesting thought that, something I hadn't considered but it has a sense to it! Personally I've never been in a position to specify anything on a new car. Even when buying new it's been a case of take that one or wait forever for whatever colour / spec whatever I was actually after!! |
