although I don't put many posts on here I do use the site for information and find it very good. I thought I would post a couple of pictures of my new Freelander. I have had a td4 manual gs for the last few years but due to a problem with my back and my nerves in my left leg I needed to change to an Automatic. I managed to get a reasonable deal on a new sd4 xs in silver. I picked it up on the last Saturday in may and as I was away in our caravan I had to tow with it on the sunday. I am inpressed already with the ease and performance of the Automatic. Are there any things I should be aware of when towing with the automatic or any tips to get the best towng experience.

I spoke with the dealer and they said no real running in needed these days but just to not take the revs on the engine too high so up to now even with the tow have not taken it above 2000rpm |

Don't let it rev high, don't let it labour and try not to hold a constant rev for any long period for the first 1500 miles then gradually relax. |

The handbook recommends you reach a minimum of 1000 miles before you start towing.

Auto is great - not just for towing! I use the manual option for descending steep hills, otherwise auto all the way. Great choice of motor. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

After 6 years of towing with a manual TD4, the auto SD4 is in another league.
