Similar experience, I moved from a Disco TD5 to a MY12 SD4 and find towing much better which was a bit of a surprise given the smaller engine and body size. Most impressive change is the quality of the gear changing of the Auto Box. SD4 Auto 2012 GS Stornoway Grey.

I am looking forward to when Chicken George opens a Caravan Club 5 van CL site so all of us towing lot can go and see George and get a good deal on a chicken to roast.
