United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Ipanema Sand

Agree with Wizking you will love it

DPFs on MY 11 cars are no trouble at all. I do loads of short trips and have never had a problem, also the EGR is a non issue. Just drive it and enjoy. 3 years of completely trouble free motoring - never had that from a new car before I bought my FL 2.

Welcome to the fold, good choice, and an informed and reasearched one too.
.
You can now spend many happy hours reading up all the intricacies and upgrades.
.
May I reccomend you start with two stroke additive, a set of nightbreaker unlimited headlight bulbs, change the interior light bulbs for led's and buy a new set of wheelarch trims fitted with a good dose of Waxoyl or similar
.
Enjoy your new toy, kind regards from Fred.

Ok, I hate to ask, because I know I will get hooked, but when you say wheel arch trims, are those the strips that go along the outside, rather than the whole wide wheel arch? Can see LR parts for about £44 but don't want to get the wrong things. Does this stop a specific problem I am likely to encounter?

Do a search and you'll find lots of info on here. The trims are the strips (about an inch wide) which are a push fit on the edge of the wheel arch. They tend to corrode and deform, so people buy replacements. A very few have noted corrosion under the strips. No need to replace them IMHO unless they are deformed or missing. Front n/s on later models is modified with a round section rubber seal - they don't always supply this one when replacement is ordered. One on my MY13 was deformed after only 6 months, but it wasn't corroded and I was able to push it back into shape and refit. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Yikes, think I may check that before I pay the final amount. Seems bad its happening on 2011 models...

Don't panic every time you see a problem on here - The FR2 has very few problems, but people who do get them tend to post about them! As far as I can tell, body corrosion on this car is very rare. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Thanks that's reassuring. Suppose it makes sense to check before I buy it tho.

See, that's just bloody cruel. Did I open the bonnet? No. Am I going to open it before I pay the rest? Hell yes.

Yes it's worth opening the bonnet. The rusty engine was a one-off I suspect, but my first FR2, bought from a dealer, had an engine covered in mud! They hadn't even tried to clean it. And no, I didn't notice till I got it home, by which time I was nearly a hundred miles away. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
