Faulty Key-Fob

Has anyone had a problem with the key fob suddenly not working at all? The one in use has been charged in the dash recently, but refused to lock the car when parked in a side road tonight. None of the fob buttons did anything at all!

As the fob is a sealed unit, it can't be dust inside. I'm wondering if the rechargeable battery inside has suddenly gone wonky. Or possibly that a wireless house alarm may have jammed the signal.

I did eventually get it to single lock, while car was parked. On returning to the car it took about 6 goes to unlock it.

Now I'm home it seems to lock and unlock normally again. All very weird. Confused Any ideas?

update

Well the "faulty" fob has worked absolutely fine all day, so my money is on the house alarm jamming theory. I'll test that on Sunday when I return to the same road to park. Razz Life is not a dress rehearsal!

I know some cars (VW i think) had a problem that if you pushed the button on the remote to many times while the car wasn't in sight it wouldn't work anymore. Might be something like that.

nope

Interesting thought JVVV, but nope! I was standing right next to the car when operating the fob. I still reckon its that alarm jamming thingy. Razz

I'll hopefully be able to find out for sure on Sunday, unless someone else grabs the relevant parking spot! Mad Life is not a dress rehearsal!

Just imagine if Avturs fob goes faulty Laughing he'd would be up all night checking to see if its still locked.

Mrs G says the boots has unlocked itself twice on our FL2 but I think its more likely that she has pressed the wrong button on the fob. Lets hope it one of those rare occasions when she's wrong and I'm right Thumbs Up At work

got mine reprogrammed on Friday at the stealers when it was in getting the towbar fixed...

dealer said to my wife that if you dont use the fob, then the programming will delete itself, so you have to alternate between keys Rolling Eyes

Censored key fob

Left the office this evening and went to Tesco's, shopped and back home.

Went to lock the car and the keyfob just wouldn't do a thing, started the car okay, buttons just don't work, no locking/unlock of doors or boot, lights or alram function, just dead Mad

Spare key worked ok though, so i guess its a trip to the dealer tomorrow (when the fob will most likely work)

I had the same issue two months ago. My key fob (used every day ) would not lock the door and I had to use my wifes fob (used once a month). I can rule out any sort of interference since the second fob work without issue.

It only happen this one time and never since even durning trips after this on the same day. I think it was caused by me pulling my fob out of the slot and not letting the car eject it after i hit the stop button. I think that there may be some kind of code sync which happens as it is ejected and you hear the "eject noise".

Think its obviously gone faulty, are keyfobs covered on warranty? Question Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
