Merc A-Class Phones

Bit off topic on a LR forum, but i know some of you have driven Mercs etc

My dads bought my mum a A-Class without a phone kit installed.

The steering wheels and radio all have the telephone buttons, but when pressed it obviously says "not installed"

Do any of you know if there is a kit out there to bluetooth or cradle a phone to it to get them working.

The dealer told them to have a parrot installed

Any ideas? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Can't help you there Npinks!

I've driven so many rental BMW's and Mercs where they have all of the buttons for the phone that just don't do anything except tell you it's not installed!........why put the bloody buttons on then!

On the subject of phones why do some manufacturers still require you to put a sim card in and not have bluetooth like the LR's??!!!

A colleague of mine has a 2007 XC70 which requires a sim card, and Porsches need sim cards as well, which is not what I expected! And not only that you should see how much Porsche want for every option you add to the basic car!! The sim card approach is a pain in the arse........but I'll guess I'll have to invest in one for teh Cayman S when it comes.

i agree with you there, why put the buttons in if your not able to link up a system.

Its the same radio just without the phone modual bit i think

I have found a website that says you can swap so,mething to make it a bluetooth instead of cradle car kit, but you still need to have the phone kit in the first place Banging Head Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I know parrot now do the cables to link their car kit to the existing buttons, although you'd still need to screen installed, it won't use the Merc screen.
