Low mileage and FL2 diagnostic kit options

Hi

Freelander 1 owner here thinking about the future and the possibility of buying a Freelander 2. I red and blue FL2's but often see they have low mileage. Why are there so many with only 4 to 8 k miles at 1 year old? At 2 years old there's a lot with only 8 to 12k miles. Is this down to mileage limits on rental/HP agreements or just how it is? There's too many for them to be demonstrators and they're not ex LR experience colours.

Do any of you have diagnostic tools for the FL2 to help assist repairing FL2's yourself. I appreciate many are fairly new and still under warranty. I have a hawkeye for my FL1. I was wondering what the preferred diagnostic tool is on the FL2.

Thanks Hippo's videos - Honorary Tratterer

Welcome Hippo - thinking of moving up in the world I see!
No specific answers but I suspect the low mileage may be down to them being bought as second cars - a lot of refs on here to "the wife's car". Mine was an ex-demo and came with quite a high mileage - about 1000 a month - as the salesperson had been using it as her company car. She said she was going to miss it!
Lots of refs on here to diagnostics if you search through. Try putting "hawkeye" into search and you may find answers. Certainly the ordinary machines are not good enough for most purposes. Also try having a look through Alex Pescaru's posts as he is the forum's technical whizz. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

England 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Stornoway Grey

Apparently there was an offer not to refuse for those on HP/Rental schemes to upgrade to the latest version, hence quite a few low milage examples around - it's how I ended up with mine. SD4 Auto 2012 GS Stornoway Grey.

The Faultmate FCR is the only diagnostic tool I've found so far and are highly regarded on the D3 forum.
Other opinions are available. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.
