Had a new window fitted today by Autoglass and have run in to the same problem as everyone else.

Asked for an oem screen but was told it would be extra, but if the screen supplied was not fit for purpose an oem screen would be fitted in its place.
Two minutes up the road from the depot the rear view mirror fell off and won't go back on as I told them it would thanks to the advise found on this forum.

Anyhow, I'm after your help.
Whilst about with the mirror I noticed that the roof liner where it joins the top of the screen has a gap and does not have the best finish to the edge.

Could someone have a look at theirs please and tell me if there is an edge trim missing, a gap and if the edge looks unfinished?

Mine just had a gap. Was handy for hiding the wire from the forward facing camera.

And mine, most vehicles if you check have a small gap between the screen and the headlining, you never notice it till you look, as wizking posted, ideal to tuck the wire from a forward facing camera.

Looked as though a trim was not refitted but if yours is the same.

You would never notice the gap unless you were looking for it or working in that area.

I was told that an OEM screen would be dearer FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY. Not my problem then. I asked for, and got, an OEM Screen. My wife's mate who works for a windscreen insurance company said it was your right to demand an OEM screen although they only give in to those that 'pester'!

I would prefer an oem screen obviously, but if the pattern part does the job then I'm not to bothered.

Why autoglass are still trying to fit these not fit for purpose screen's is beyond me!
The issues are the same as reported on here five years ago!

See what they say tomorrow morning......

Mirror refitted by autoglass , trim refitted by wife !

If it comes off again they are going to replace the screen.
