6th service: scope of work (parts, filters & fluids) ???

Hi,

I'm about to make the 6th service on my 2008 2.2D FL II
with mileage abt 95,000 km (60,000 miles).

As far as I'm concerned following should be replaced/changed:

1. Fluids
- engine oil
- brake fluid

2. Filters
- air filter
- oil filter
- fuel filter
- pollen filter

3. Other
- flexible brake hoses front (LR008148)
- flexi brake hoses rear (LR008149)

4. Air conditon service (cleaning & cooler topping up)

I will not make all above at dealers workshop but at independent but experieced workshop
and they may not be aware about the scope or may try to make more than required Mad

Therefore my question is what else should I remember about ?

Thanks & Regards

Hi! I understand the clutch fluid is also included in this service. If you know how to bleed the clutch fluid I would be very interested in knowing. Stradstone quote £39 plus fluid.

Problems/solutions include: rear diff pinion replaced, stearing rack and pump replaced, alternator earth cable replaced (plus new alternator as misdiagnosed), throttle body replaced, MAP sensor replaced, secondary earth cable...

6th service appears to be a standard B service, with the only non-standard part being replacement of the brake fluid (3-year intervals) and flexible brake hoses (6 years). If you use the search facility there's a copy of the maintenance schedule on here somewhere - it will be called something like Maintenance Check Sheet.

Regarding the clutch fluid change, the clutch shares its fluid with the brake system, and a single reservoir serves both. The brake fluid change therefore presumably includes a change of clutch fluid. There is apparently a bleed nipple on the clutch slave cylinder.

Power Steering fluid and resevoir\filter might be worth doing if its never been done, the finer of the two mesh filters in the resevoir is prone to gunking up.

You have me thinking now as more than a bit annoyed that Stratstone quoted an additional amount for the cluych fluid change. Plus at roughly £8 a corner for the brake pipe the quote of £247 for the job also sticks.

What's the procedure for changing the pipes and is it a difficult job?? 2007 LR Freelander 2 GS - factory tints, LR mud flaps, 2013 facelift)

You don't happen to have a part number or bumbers for the filter/filters for the break/clutch fluid. Tempted to try to do myself.

Comments which might help.
.
1/. For the cabin pollen filter only buy LR genuine part, its stiffer than most aftermarket and you need the 'self strength' as its somewhat tricky to slide in place, cheap variants will undoubtably buckle.
2/. For the Diesel Filter again buy LR from Dan at Duckworths because there are 4 clip on pipes and you don't want to risk a leak on far eastern counterfeit parts.
3/. For oil and air either buy LR or known quality brand. The oil filter is tiny so best maker is sensible.
4/. Search the forum for changing the Diesel filter as there is technical advise on how to fill prime it. I use a cheap funnel and plastic pipe to backfill from underneath using the water drain.
Hope this helps
Kind regards from Fred

Hi there

Thanks all of you for support!

All done except flexi hoses which appeared to be in good shape
after 60,000 miles.

To let you know about prices in Poland - total costs finalized in
PLN 1040 which equals to GBP 205 (non-autho workshop)
