Garage recommendations-rugby,think I have the Diff whine :-(

I think the wife's car has the dreaded rear Diff whine....sounds like a wheel bearing is on its way out and the noise is coming from the rear near side and sounds likes wo wo wo wo...... Laughing

Can anyone diagnose it from my detailed description of the sound!!?? Ha ha

I have seen the repair kit on eBay, bearing, oil etc but would like to get a garage to quote, can anyone recommend a garage in the midlands that could do the repair??

Thanks in advance

If it were mine and it was out of warranty, my first port of call would be Guy Salmon Coventry for a full diagnosis and quote. If it was going to be a major job running into thousands, I have heard very good reports of an independent in Banbury called E.H. Douglas, who I would consider for a second quote as well.

Hope it's not too serious. Foraging near Gaydon....

Thanks for the reply!, that sounds like the best way to deal with it, I just know that if I take or to a run of the mill garage it will have a wheel bearing replaced and it will be the diff that was the issue or vice versa

Thank you Black FL2

Is Worcestershire too far? Can recommend a good independent.

Could be wheel bearing or even handbrake shoes sticking?

What are your tyres like? My scorpion zeros made a similar noise when they were at 4mm. Changing them cured it.

Hi, mine has just been diagnosed with a Diff failure (2008 owned from new). I have contacted Land Rover Customer services and they have offered to pay 50% (so far!). Proposed cost is 」305 all in.

Thing is, I don't think the dealer does you many favours when he says LR will pay half when there are many reports on here of the Dealer charging from 」450 ish, they seem to jack the price up a bit.
