Aircon pully fault?

Afternoon all

Just picked up my new to me freelander 2 xs on Friday after work, and had a problem with it already. After picking up the truck I have driven all of 17 miles and had the cab fill with smokey air and puffs of smoke coming out of the bonnet while driving Rolling Eyes

Far as me and my dad can tell, it seems to be the air con pully wheel and or the air con clutch / belt, when the air con is on auto it makes a rather loud noise as if its weeeering, as soon as you turn to econ or off, the pully wheel seems to rattle its head off, on the test drive I didn't notice anything as the radio was on and I had it set to econ mode. Needless to say after a short drive the air con unit and pully are red hot.

Text the dearler, and its going back in on Monday to be seen to. If s this a common problem with the pullys to fail?

The freelander 2 has only done 61k miles

Many thanks

Daniel

Mine went... was making a loud noise when reving.

You can hit off ( the eco / off button ) and see if it still is a problem. You should see the wheel and belt disengage when you do to confirm.

IF you need to get a new kit ( belt and all ) its not a cheap or easy job.

Cheers budy

We have tracked it down to either the aircon compressor has failed and made the clutch fail or the clutch has failed on its own, but until the dealer removes the parts we wont know what other bits have gone too. For it to get so hot that smoke poors out of the bonnet, the heat transfer must of moved onto the next parts around the compressor. Apart from that the rest of the car seems fine, just annoying that I have had a problem within the first 24 hours of owning the truck Neutral

All the best will keep you all updated, might help someone else out that finds them selfs in the place
