Which towbar electrics for 07 plate

Hello all,

Am going camping later this year and have bought a brand new trailer and brand new tow bar with swan neck. This is where im confused, which towing electrics do I need for my set up? Managed to get a cheap second hand set off flebay, PN#
VPLFT0105 But TOPIX doesn't have the rear bumper removal or fitting instructions?

Any help as to correct electrics and instructions for rear bumper removal greatly appreciated

Shamus

Rear bumper removal:
Remove both rear mudflaps if fitted. If not remove the two screws that would have held the mudflaps. (One in rear of wheel arch, torx head, one at bottom rear edge of wheel well, phillips head)
Remove 4 x phillips head screws from lower valance across rear of car.
Remove both rear light units (2 x phillips screws each, plus electrical connection)
Lift out rear bumper protector panel from sill. (It only clips in)
Remove 5 x rivet type fasteners under panel. (The inner has a phillips head - if you are lucky the inner may screw out. If not you will need to lever the whole fastener out)
Back to each wheel arch, prise out the lower edge and side of the plastic inner wing to access behind it.
This will expose 2 x difficult to see (and get at) 10mm hex head bolts. (two each side) Remove both. They can also be seen and reached in the bottom of rear light aperture.
The rear bumper is now disconnected.
Under the n/s wing behind the wheel arch, access the PDC (if fitted) connector and disconnect.
Carefully spring out each side of the bumper from the wing side.
Position a soft mat or pad to place the bumper on without damage.
Lift the bumper off. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

The electrics part number you give according to Google is for 2013 onwards Freelie. I would assume that it won't work on your 2007 MY.
.
If you search on the forum there is plenty of info about towing electrics. If you are only towing a camping trailer them a low cost 'by pass' electrics pack is available from all the tow bar suppliers AND you only need the single black seven pin socket.
.
Only when pulling a caravan do you need the twin electrics.
Only when you have th Freelie Auto AND you tow a caravan do you benefit from the genuine LR electrics.
.
Why do you want to remove the rear bumper? Lots of towbars today fit easily without taking bumpers off. Witter tow bars are a doddle to DIY install.
.
Hope this helps. Kind regards from Fred.

Cheers Fred.

The tow bar I have is a brand new genuine one with swan neck. Th fitting instructions says to remove the rear bumper. Would rather not if I don't have to. Will offer it up nxt week when I have time to fit/ look at it.
