United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Baltic Blue

I've put a few more in there Rob...that car is long gone now, and floating around the Pennines somewhere. You will note from the pictures that the side vents were also finished in Sumatra Black....it's how I bought the car from Stratstone Slough, unregistered, so not sure if this was a factory job or Dealer retrofit. Nothing on TOPiX indicates that it was done at Halewood though. Foraging near Gaydon....

Thanks for putting the photos on, it looked great. Thought Sumatra Black was an old colour? How come it was on a 62 plate? Blue one is very nice too. I'll have to do some photo chopping tonight to see what that grill looks like on my car with the updated lights. No idea - it had a build date of January 2012 according to TOPiX, so presumably was still available then? Foraging near Gaydon....

Just finished updating the lower part of the front bumper. The centre plastic tow cover is now black as per newer models and also the rubber spats in front of the front wheels are now the smaller type. Not sure what they are supposed to do? but it's all looking a lot neater.

South Africa 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Fuji White

Hi guys

I want to paint the grill and sidr vents on my MY12 SE gloss black.
Any tips or links on how to go about it?

Also for yhe fellas that put in MY headlamps and Rear Lamps-do you have a conversion diagram for the wiring. I doubt its a straight swap.
Thanks and awesome cars by the way! 1 crack at life. Make it count.

Hi Maru,

An easy way of getting a black finish, although not gloss is to get some liquid wrap spray. This gives a nice smooth satin finish and no primer or prep apart from a good clean with some sort of alcahol wipe is reqired. It can also be removed quite easely if you change your mind. This is the product I've used before. Don't think you can get sprayable liquid wrap in a gloss finish! I could be wrong!

As for upgrading your lights, for the front lights you need to look at wytonpjs post. For the back lights have a look at Powerful UK's YouTube channel. MY11 Freelander 2 TD4 S, Santorini Black, Almond Cloth, Full MY 2013 facelift, Factory Privacy Glass, Clear View Pack, Folding Mirrors, Rear Parking Sensors, LR 19" DogLeg Alloys, and lots of other stuff!

Just found the photos that Powerful UK produced to show how to re-wire the LED rear lights. For some reason LR used different connectors on the new lights! probably to try and stop people upgrading them.

It's basically chop the plugs off your old lights and solder them on to your new LED ones. MY11 Freelander 2 TD4 S, Santorini Black, Almond Cloth, Full MY 2013 facelift, Factory Privacy Glass, Clear View Pack, Folding Mirrors, Rear Parking Sensors, LR 19" DogLeg Alloys, and lots of other stuff!

Finally got myself a MY 2013 front grill. Very Happy

I'm going paint the surround gloss black but not sure whether to have the centre of the grill black or silver. Can anyone tell me what silver LR use for the edge and centre part? MY11 Freelander 2 TD4 S, Santorini Black, Almond Cloth, Full MY 2013 facelift, Factory Privacy Glass, Clear View Pack, Folding Mirrors, Rear Parking Sensors, LR 19" DogLeg Alloys, and lots of other stuff!

It looks brilliant, would like to change my wheels and colour code mirrors and door moldings but the wife would kill me. Big Cry 2013 hse auto, black, almond leather, exnon lights, factory privacy glass, exhaust finisher, rear boot spoiler, mud flaps. Body door side moulding and steps.

Just finished painting the new grill surround. Should be fitting it at the weekend. Not looking forward to taking the front bumper off though! I'm hoping I can get the job done without taking it off completely.

Going to keep the centre of the grill grey and just change the surround.

Should look like this when finished...

Think this might be how the grill looks on the new SE Tech. Not sure? MY11 Freelander 2 TD4 S, Santorini Black, Almond Cloth, Full MY 2013 facelift, Factory Privacy Glass, Clear View Pack, Folding Mirrors, Rear Parking Sensors, LR 19" DogLeg Alloys, and lots of other stuff!

Spent the morning changing the grill surround and I can confirm it can't be done without taking the front bumper off. Sad

Tried to get at the welded lugs by just taking the headlights out and undoing the bolts at the top of the grill but it wasn't happening!

So had a quick look on YouTube for instructions and the bumper was off in about 15 mins. Quite a straightforward job in the end.

After removing the old grill surround I noticed there were a few lugs that needed trimming on the new one before fitting.

I then glued and screwed the new grill surround onto my bumper and started putting everything back together. You can also see the small wiring looms I made for the new headlights.

All finished. Took a good couple of hours in the end but I think worth it. Very Happy

Hi Rob, I have read your posts with interest. Looks a good job.

Could you point me in the right direction for the aluminium effect fascia/dash trim you fitted please? Mine has (when I take delivery this week) the fake wood and I would like to change that as the first of probably quite a few mods!

Thanks in advance,

Phil
