Would it not have been simpler to have strapped the vehicles and then use the winch to pull them both, or would the winch not have been able to handle that?

why the hell do you want to offroad with a boat on the roof?, maybe in their cases so they can get home when their trucks are swamped? At work

Those 2 go unbelievably remote. You're talking 100's of kilometres off road into the Gulf country up north. No real trailer access and the fishing is extremely good. The coastline is all untouched, no people, heaps of crocodiles and big fish. They set up camp and film the fishing as part of the show. The only way to get the boat in along the tracks is on the roof. I think you guys might find it hard to comprehend the scale of the distances involved and the pure lack of any amenities.

Given a bit of panic induced by the rising water I can quite easily see how they might end up in that situation, and at the end of the day they did get both vehicles out with minimal damage. Hindsight is one thing - being there with a stuck vehicle and a rising tide is quite another!

I think they did bloody well. Literally running from one plan to the next and the panic certainly seemed genuine enough! Easy to criticise from the armchair but another matter when you're 'in the moment'.. |
