Long journey - Comfortable ride

Just thought I would mention. Did a 450mile drive today, car performed great, very comfortable and fairly quiet on the roads at high speed. First time I had this car on a long drive and I'm impressed!

Anyone reading these things and considering buying a fl2, I would recomend. Just don't look at the MPG too closely Smile

It IS a comfortable ride. I had a BMW X3 prior to my FL2 and that was a guzzler. My freely is soooo much more economical.
EDIT ... AND the X3 was a fu Censored ing bone shaker. Like it was on concrete wheels. Evil or Very Mad ...

I've had mine for 6 years and while I like the ride, I think the front of the seats are too high off the floor and tend to cut into the back of your leg. My wife picked it up on the test drive. After 6 years the edge of the seat still hasn't worn down, in fact, my butt sinks further into the seat making the effect worse. My only complaint really.

Totally disagree with you on both those points!

I have had my x3 3 weeks and covered 1200 miles and have to say it is as comfortable as the fl2. (Which admitably i wasn't expecting coz the fl2 was always a highly comfortable car) mpg is AVERAGING 46mpg and have even had 50.5mpg on one trip - I have had fl2's for six years and never got anywhere near those figures! The ride, comfort and quiteness were one of my main reasons for choosing the FL2 (main one being its ability as a 'van tug). We have toured around Europe a few times and never arrive feeling stiff or knackered.

I suspect wheel size may have some effect on this as I have always gone for 17" rims, essential on the lanes around here. However, a Nissan N-Trail on 17" rims is quite agricultural but nice to drive. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

Long distance comfort depends on more than just seats and ride. I think the Fr2 is a great car for long distances, but it is still quite a small car. My Disco2 had more comfortable seats and was (until it started to get unreliable) marginally more relaxing over a very long distance. For me the quietness and just general "feel" you get from a big automatic make for a more relaxing long distance drive. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

The Longest drive I have done was 860 miles in 11.5 hrs towing and it was very comfortable.
Having said that the seats in my MY13 are far superior to my MY08
Also my MPG is very good and getting 42+ on long runs. Getting used to manual box now but have to say the FR2auto is much better suited apart from the awful mpg Jaguar x-type sport gone
