sd4 auto ... problem pulling out/ setting off .. any ideas

Hello

I bought a freelander dynamic sd4 auto my13 last month ... been great for weeks but had a strange problem 3 times this weekend. I accelerate to pull out at a junction and the car limps forward, even when I press more on the accelerator. the rev needle bounces from 800 to about 1500 for 5 or 6 times and the engine makes a drumming sound, then all comes to live and I set off as normal. I'm not very happy, I've lost all confidence pulling out at junctions as I can't rely on the car actually setting off! Not great with oncoming traffic. Has anybody else had this?? I've emailed the landrover dealer to call me ASAP in the morning to book it in and get it looked at. I'm taking the family to wales next week and I'm not to happy with this intermittent feature!

I'm on exactly 30 days today so that's why I emailed just in case it's a big problem .. the car is fantastic otherwise .. bit disappoint due to my old trusty 07 td4 sx been perfect for 4 years.

Any ideas or information appreciated.

cheers

Anthony

I think Oldgeezer solved a similar problem with his extra battery earth cable, qv, but that was on an older car. Sounds like your box isn't changing properly - definitely needs sorting by dealer. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Rather than email or ring you would be best to go straight to the dealer and deal with face to face - its harder for them to fob you off. Hopefully if you have a pleasant dealer (there are a couple out there) they will send a technician out with you to try and replicate the fault or at least take it into the workshop and have a quick look for obvious things that could cause the problem.

Good luck sorting it out. Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless!
Gone - 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Bali Blue with xenons
Gone - 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Rimini Red with bodykit

Hi sorry to hear that ! do you use both feet on both pedals ?
ie left foot on brake and right on gas and hit the gas before totally releasing brake ? as there is an electronic link that cuts the throttle if the brake switch is active still ????? this makes the engine really hesitate and labour as its designed to do so Jaguar x-type sport gone
Jaguar x-type 2.2d sport one of my best cars ever sadly gone
Freelander 2 GS auto 2008 most unreliable ever ! gladly gone
Freelander 2 GS manual 2013 only time will tell !

Been in to the dealer ... Turns out to be a low fuel pressure fault ! I thought they did 100's of checks before I bought this car .. They have done 3 software up dates also .. Driving fine now.

Thanks for the replys .. I don't drive with both feet .. Tried it , nearly put myself through the windscreen.

Cheers
