How to fit full size spare wheel

Just swapped my 07GS for MY11GS but kept the full size spare wheel. Tried to fit it over the existing gunk+foam but can't get it to locate. If I align the wheel centre over foam to fit the threaded bolt it fouls one corner of the foam block. I can adjust the foam block to fit inside the wheel but then the threaded bolt is misaligned with the locating hole in the boot floor. My solution so far is to take out the complete foam insert and fit the spare. Suppose I could cut off the corner of the offending foam insert but surely it shouldn't come to this. I must be missing something so ideas gratefully received 11 GS Bali Blue

I consigned the the whole emergency kit to the garage and just have the spare in the car, don't even carry a jack or brace just call the breakdown service. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

Well Midlandrover that was my immediate solution. Must admit didn't give it that much attention, by the time we arrived home I was hungry and the dogs needed feeding so took the easy way out and took the whole lot out. But presumably you can opt for the dealer to fit a full size wheel so how the **** is it done.
BTW, been looking at the posts to reduce the volume of the rear parking sensors, I'm looking at the other end as mine is to low !! 11 GS Bali Blue

Do cars supplied with full sized spares have gunk too? Unlikely I'd have thought so not designed to fit?

Mine just had the gunge etc so bought a spare and just put that in, no need for the emergency kit if you have a wheel, just remember where you put it when the time comes time comes to sell the car. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

I think like already said that you can have one or the other in the boot but not both as generally the cars are supplied with one or the other but not both!

I much prefer the spare even if the weight does nothing good for MPG, At least with that you aren't stranded regardless of the damage to a tyre and the foam is said by many to wreck tyres for further use though I am not 100% sure that's true.

Yes, if you have a spare the gunk is pointless (well it's pretty pointless anyway). If supplied new the spare comes with jack and brace. The jack is secured by a L-shaped bolt in the right-hand hole, then the wheel is secured on top with the centre bolt in the left-hand hole. Plastic former is no longer supplied. The brace is just about up to loosening the nuts - they are tightened to 98 lb/ft, which is quite tight! Brace secured to jack handle with a steel clip and high-tec rubber band. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Looks like keep the gunge kit in the garage ready for when I next sell. Have to tell the salesman he was wrong when he said the spare simply (!!!) fitted over the foam insert.
Thanks for all of you who replied. 11 GS Bali Blue

I also bought a cheap proper size long bar with socket as the little LR wheel brace is pants.....
Ditched the foam and gunk and fitted a full size spare, jack and above brace.

All I did on my new one, is to remove everything under the boot floor which involved the tyre foam, polystyrene base etc and put it in the old car before it went and swapped the spare out of the old one and everything to go with it in the new car. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. My tyre dealer in S London told me that it's impossible to repair the tyres if gunk has been used. He wasn't trying to sell anything - just came up in conversation. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
