Side steps repair

Hi, Today someone has bumped up against my drivers side side step and has broken two of the support bars from the step.
I was just wondering if any one has ever taken the rubber mat of the top side and re fixed the bars back on with pop rivets or similar?
Cheers

Yes you can repair , I'm working from memory. You need to pour a bucket of hot water over the plastic tops (two pieces), and then they can be wriggled free of their clips. They are clipped under the outer rail fir their full length. Take care as you do it as their are spacer blocks which you need to refit.
The pop rivets are I think 3/16 inch.
Later ill have a look at mine and send other info if necessary.
Kind regards from Fred.
