After speaking to LR, is it right that there is no changeable filter/ gauze on the 3rd gen haldex?

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Lago Grey

My Freelie is 2010MY however there are a number of references on this forum where MY2010 is on the changeover and there are grey areas as to what got fitted on the line.

Topix manual says:
Quote:
Vehicles from 2009MY are fitted with a modified design of the active on-demand coupling, known as the generation 4 unit.

The new active on-demand coupling has design improvement changes over the previous generation 3 coupling which give the following advantages:
Reduced base torque at high differential speed
Torque activation independent of differential speed
    Accurate torque limiter
    Energy stored in accumulator
    Lower max current consumption
    Faster response.

So in principle vehicles from MY09 should have the gen 4. I've always assumed mine is a gen 4 - maybe I need to go and check!

If VIN is 9Hxxxxxx and above, then is H4.

Thanks Alex. Going by that my 09 is a gen 4, so a MY10 definitely should be.

Ok, just to throw a bit of mix into the thread, my 08 plate had a new diff/haldex when I bought it. It would, of course, have had a Gen3 but it sure anything has a Gen4 on it now.................

Hello, here is some fact which i just got by email about da1216 diff whit haldex.

With reference to the DA1216 they are new and are covered by the standard 12 months warranty.
“This is a Generation 4 Haldex unit, if your car is fitted with a Gen 3 Haldex unit please swap the Haldex unit”

The gen 3 and gen 4 work in a different way and so aren’t compatible, so unfortunately no software upgrade is possible to allow a Gen 4 run on a Gen 3.
I hope this helps.

This item is 51kg volumetric weight and too heavy to be dispatched with our normal courier.
If you could please supply your full shipping address we can check our other couriers to see if we can dispatch and supply a price for you.
Many thanks

If anyone could help please?

I'm still trying to confirm if there is a filter on the 3rd gen haldex?

And is it the same part no as the 4th gen?

As land rover only have a part no for the 4th gen...

Thanks

Matt
