slight delay and never heard anything so annoying. Seems the buyers bank although granting the mortgage they won't release any money until they have checked out the contracts to be exchanged.
Just goes to show how nervous banks are about lending money after the cockups they have made in the past Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

That has been the case for decades and nothing to do with the credit crunch. The mortgage lender's solicitors, usually the same as the buyer's solicitor, reports on title to the lender before exchange of contracts can take place. It is best not to get too hung up on dates until the whole chain says it is ready to exchange and then you can firm up on the completion date. Also, don't pay a non refundable deposit for your removals until you are sure the date has been agreed by the solicitors. All part of the fun of moving house.

After yet another holdup hopefully this time contract exchange on Monday 7 April with completion on Thursday.
its the buyers end that has been the problem and now both solicitors are singing from the same song sheet at last Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner
