I haven't towed with a manual FL2 but my previous car was a similarly engined 2.2 diesel / manual box. Towing a Unicorn Valencia (1565Kg) I know which I prefer...

The FL2 auto (with OEM TB and electrics) makes towing completely effortless and 'burning clutch smells are but a distant memory, even when reversing the 'van up a slope.
