oil change / sump plug ! (see pictures in My Gallery)

Hi all,

Just collected a new oil filter, got the replacement oil, removed the underside metal protection plate - ready to go !

Just so I don't c**k it up - please confirm that the oil drainage plug ("sump plug") is the bolt at the lowest part of the engine, fitting into a black painted metal cover.

There are a few pictures in My Gallery (together with the "snow chains & pipes" pictures)

You will still have to do the yearly/24000 Km service anyway so that the dealer stamp on your warranty.
So did you exceed the 24000 Km for a year ? FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER

Job done ! Thumbs Up

As previously mentioned by others (YF I think) - you are in for a painful job if you don't have an angled socket spanner for the oil filter cover. There is only room to use 1 arm and it's almost impossible to achieve any leverage. Big Cry

Anyway, it's good to have fresh, top quality oil in the engine now.

Hi YF ,

I used Shell Ultra Helix 5W-30. It fits the bill according to those oil specifications you listed, and is readily available here in Denmark.

all the best, Jimmy.
