Not sure if this has been posted before, but any one fitted LED foglight bulbs as DRL's? If so any recommendations?

I thought about this but was told the led bulbs would be useless as fog lights?

I agree but to be honest I've never found foglights to be much use anyway, they only illuminate the road about 6 feet in front of the car. My headlight bulbs are Osram Nighbreaker I find these are bright enough to light up anything, and I dip the leveller to the max in fog.

Fog lights are only supposed to light up the ground immediately in front of you.

They are designed to be used when the fog is so bad that the only light worth having on is low down (where the fog isn't so dense) and even then only light up the immediate sides of the road and perhaps project forwards a little.
In this scenario, any other lamp other than sidelights would just bounce back off the fog. Even dipped, 'levelled-down' headlights would not work.

In short, virtually everyone in the UK seems to use fog lights incorrectly. From the idiots who just think they 'look cool' having sidelights and fogs permanently on, to the almost as bad who turn them on at the first sign of fog. They are not so much designed for people to see you (as rear fogs are) but for you to see, when all else fails.

Well?, I've been driving for 45 years now, and I have never, ever found fog lights even remotely useful, even in the densest of fog, so I think it would be just as well to use them as daytime running lights which are undoubtably a sound safety measure. Thats why they have been compulsory in Nordic countries for years, and compulsory on British Motor cycles since 2003. Thats my rant over.

Not every one shares your view, in some countries they have banned them already. I think they are a gimmick, next time your out and you see a vehicle in the distance, what do you see first, the vehicle or the DRL's?

I hate the dlr euro rule. I ride a motor bike and now no longer stand out as loads of much larger cars and vans have nice bright led daytime lights. IF YOU CANT SEE A CAR DONT DRIVE.
Also, in fog a lot of people don't use any lights as there dlrs are on so think that's ok, they forget the fact that they invisible from behind.

Have you looked at Osram ledriving fog lights. They not cheap but do look good

Site sponsor Advanced Factors posted about the Osram ones recently - they are direct replacements (in terms of fitment) for the fog lights - wiring on top of that. We had lots of early morning mist last week like most of the country and a silver/grey Clio was playing at stealth mode on a roundabout, no lights, no indication all at 7am. Just appeared out of the mist. Idiot. But he wasn't alone.

Osram kit is a very good combination, the fogs work well are brighter than standard halogens but as said in this post already they don't exactly assist in seeing. I have a set on my D3

We've got ourselves an offroad caravan but are experiencing problems with the caravan's LED lights when it is attached to our 2007 Freelander 2 SE.

The left and right indicators and stop light work 100%. However when you switch on the main lights all the caravan's lights start to flash on and off.

Can anybody help or advise?
