England 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Santorini Black
sun roof problem sunroof problem

I should imagine like most people, have not been using the sun roof for quite some time. I opened it to the sloped position on Sunday but when I tried to close it again, I could just hear a click somewhere to the rear. Did this numerous times but could not close it. I eventually gave the rear sun roof a good thump and lo and behold, the sun roof could be closed again. So clearly the motor was sticking after not being used during the winter.

My point is, I am now concerned that if I use the sun roof, it will get stuck again. Is there a manual way of closing it should this happen? Thanks

i'll check... but it'll definitely be a genuine LR leaf if I find one. Am I reading too much into this or is there actually a sensor to check for debris so it doesn't close on it?

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Santorini Black

Month or so ago I visited main dealer with a view to a new Freelander. Showroom model had sunroof. Questioned the wisdom of buying a Land Rover with one of those (my previous have been Defenders) on the basis that they are bound to leak. Salesman confided that they have lots brought in with jammed sunroof due to under use (understandable). Perhaps get into the habit of opening it from time to time? Hope that is helpful.

Flighty and temperamental things, sunroofs. Best avoided. Current: 2013 SD4 XS
Gone: 2012 Defender 90 2.2 SW XS
Previous: Defender 110 TD5 SW

Thanks DrT, I'll definitely be doing a monthly check but still need to know if there is a manual way of closing should the roof get stuck in an open position. I fear there isn't as I'm sure someone would have commented

I suspect that you are correct, but haven't scrutinised the handbook in this respect as I opted for an SD4 XS, on the basis that I liked many of the HSE extras but not the sunroof. Flighty and temperamental things ..... Current: 2013 SD4 XS
