Front 12v socket & gear selector light not working

I purchased a 2010 MY11 TD4 SE Auto last week, and while I am loving the car so far, I have one minor annoyance; the front 12v socket and the LED light on the shifter gear indicator do not work. The rear 12v socket works fine, although the aux input has very poor sound quality and terrible engine whine, but that's a separate issue.

After a search of the forums I have checked all the relevant fuses, and they are all ok, so I think that it must be an issue with the relay that controls the front 12v socket and the gear selector light. Is there any way to test if the relay is functional? And if it is broken, where can I source a replacement from (in Australia)?

The front Accessory point is ignition live only, it may pay to change the fuse anyway, (Mini Blade Fuse) it has been known for things to drop down it and shorting out.

Also check the lamp holder on the Selector indicator, there have been a few cases where the lamp holder has become detached and dropped down.

Thanks mate, will have a go at replacing te fuse, and will see if I can get to the selector lamp to see if it's just fallen out.

This will help you. There is also a link with details how to gain access to the centre console, sort of two birds one stone Thumbs Up
