England 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Dynamic Manual Fuji White

i'm having to fit a new 1 this week and have been given the instructions by AD (thanks Thumbs Up ) - having a quick look today at whats involved i have a quick question.
How the heck do you get the bottom hose off? when the hose clip is loosened do you just pull the housing up and out of the hose (is there enough flex in the hose?) and when refitting do it by feel as you can't see the bottom of the unit which fits into the hose?

Cheers

Thank to Andy for the PDF's. I had a pre-run today to see what's involved on our 2010 model.

I'd make the following observations that aren't in the instructions:

1) I found it easier to take the top of the airbox off rather than try and disconnect the various pipes, especially the one at the back. This gives plenty of movement and the pipes stay intact.

2) The dipstick mounting bracket and the engine wiring loom were both obstructing access to the MAP sensor and the screws for the Throttle Body. Removing the screws from the dipstick brakcet and the 2 bolts holding the wiring loom bracket made access all round a lot easier.

3) Having done the above, and got my inspection lamp in a suitable position I found it relatively easy to get a small spanner on the end of the hose circlip under the Throttle Body.

HTH.

Tony

I asked similar question on this post back in December. Alas, a reply was not forthcoming as of yet. Could anyone who has done this procedure please elaborate?

Daft question but how do you know the gears are mashed or need attention without dismantling it? Likewise, if it just needs a clean, how is this known?

Chaps, cleaning it won't help. That's the secret.

Replaced mine after waiting for the weather to ease as I was doing it outside.

You'll know if its failed as it makes one hell of a noise.

Take the body off the car, then prise the back cover plate off (cover plate left underneath in pic) to reveal

Then simply lift off the large white gear to reveal

I removed the bolts shown to be able to get tools in to undo the throttle body, creating movement in dipstick pipe and the loom.

And here's the lower pipe after the Body has been removed - you can see where the jubilee clip is,I used a a short spanner to undo it.

A question if I may to those of you who have changed the throttle body.
.
What caused the failure?
.
Is it carbon soot from the EGR? If so does that indicate EGR problems that also need addressing ?
.
Kind regards from Fred

thanks all for the pictures and instructions on removing the throttle body. Thumbs Up

I assume the gears on the throttle body eventually fail due to grime build up on the valve and sides of the throttle body?

Correct it all builds up, then the teeth strip on the gears.

hi,

can you easily change the throttle body without any adjustments, just plug and play.
Or is it necessary to tune the throttle afterwards?
Or is it self tuning?

I want to change mine this weekend and would be interesting to know for me.

Changing is easy.
No need to adjust anything, it's "plug and play /self tuning". Very Happy
