My 2007-model has had its maps updated several times since new. This week I got the brilliant idea, to update the maps on the built in GPS-unit again.

I ordered my 2013/2014 DVD from *********, and followed the usual procedure.

When everything was finished, I had updated maps (yay!), but no GPS-signal anymore...(f..k).

What the h... do I do now? Sell the car? Or is there any smart fix here, that I haven't thought of yet?

I have googled the problem in all conceivable manners, but no no avail.

I would really appreciate any qualified reply.

i don't believe the company is selling OEM products, so you might be finding that the software update was corrupt on the copy disc and you haven't done any favours saving money.


try a hard reset, remove both battery leads and hold the leads together for 10mins to discharge any charge in modules and allow capacitors to, have a pot of tea and then reconnect, this might reboot the car freshly and solve it, or possibly not

Once you've done the hard reset of the car, try re-installing the set of discs you used before these most recent ones. It may or may not take the GPS back to where it was (working) before this most recent failed update.

Maybe the update has done a hardware reset of the GPS module.
If it deleted all almanac and ephemeris data in the GPS memory, then you should wait with the GPS/car on for a quite long period of time until the GPS receiver will update them from the satellites. Only then a fix can be done.

I disconnected the battery leads and attempted a discharge, reconnected and booted up the GPS again.

Problem still persists.

Alex, the GPS didn't delete anything. All of the GPS data were intact after reboot, but still no GPS signal.

I assume your saying there is no GPS, due to the GPS having a red line through it?

Maybe try some of the diagnostic codes to see if its showing anything behind the scenes , log/lat etc

Yeah, there's a red line across the GPS-logo. I browsed thru the pics RW posted in 2008, in the thread you linked to, but it looks like a danger-zone if you don't know what you're doing.

I had this once after an update, took about twenty minutes for it to find the satellites, that was parked tough, it will take longer if you are on the move.

Left the car running while the new DVD were loading, took about 15 minutes, but I left the car runnign for another 30 mins, but still no GPS-signal.
