United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Stornoway Grey
Taking Delivery Next Week

Hello all,

I have been registered on here for some months now and have finally found a Freelander 2. Its a 2.2 TD4 E XS Manual.

What do people think of this model?

Also Offroading in a manual, is it better than the Auto? Problems Etcc???

Ill be posting pictures up when I get the car.

Thanks
Chris

Welcome, I have only driven autos off road so can't speak for manuals but I'm sure you will enjoy driving it. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

XS is the 'best' spec as far as I'm concerned!

Off road in extreme circumstances the auto can compensate to a certain extent for the lack of a low box, but in the kinds of conditions you're likely to meet in a 'shiny' FL2 I prefer a manual. Torque converters are horrible things, and just get in the way. For normal off roading you can't beat a direct connection between the engine and the wheels!

"Torque converters are horrible things, and just get in the way"

I find that comment a bit odd as nearly all construction and quarry equipment use torque convertors
and they are very reliable. I have had automatics for years and would never go back to a pudding stirrer

A good choice I am delighted with mine

Looking forward to testing it out offroad, so what are the best offroad tyres out there?? for both road and offroad??

Does anyone know anywhere near Redditch I could possibly test this vehicle out??

Looks good!

A few of us are running the General Grabber AT, and are very happy with it. The tread doesn't look as aggressive as some ATs, but it works very well in moderate off road conditions. No AT will be as good on road as a dedicated road tyre, but the GGAT is quiet and handles well.
