How Many Rear Pinion Bearings Fail?

Since delivery of her Ladyship's FL2 - Nov'09 - MY2010 the rear differential pinion bearing has failed twice and now we are on the third. The vehicle emits a loud whining noise at the rear.

I am interested to discover how wide spread this problem is amongst the membership here on Freel2. Therefore I would welcome your input to this question via the attached poll.

Any comments you wish to add re the failure and importantly the rectification of your own experiences are most welcomed.
Thank You

Researched the FreeL2 database with surprising results.

Following a quick scan many members (I have kept the names) have had the rear pinion bearing replaced on their FL2, some like ourselves having the bearing replaced more than once. In other cases many have gone further and have had their differential unit completely replaced and at the same time needed to have the Haldex replaced as well.

Maybe they will come forward and take part in the poll on this subject.

Athelstan,
May I suggest those who've 'Never had a Failure' be added to the poll?
I think otherwise it could look a bit unfair upon L/R Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Happy to amend poll as per your suggestion.
However just tried to do an edit and cannot discover how to edit the poll questionnaire. Perhaps a moderator can help out on this.

Also can a moderator add another option as well to the poll - that is:

"Had the Haldex replaced as well"

Thanks.
