United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Where on earth did the instruction come from to remove the front bumper - was it on Topix?
.
I looked at the instructions on Topix to remove my engine; if I followed their procedure it would have taken me days to do the job.
.
Best always is to read the workshop manual first then plan your own shortcuts.
.
I do hope you've solved the starting problems.
.
Kind regards from Fred.

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Santorini Black

I don't have a workshop manual so I was working 'blind' as it were. I didn't even know there was a workshop manual for the Freelander. I would definitely have invested in one if I knew there was one available!!

The removal of the bumper just allowed me to see the starter motor from the underside so I could see how the starter motor came off...like I said, not necessary but it helped me out in the end. Also, having the bumper off meant I could stand a lot closer to the engine as the bumper does stick out quite a way and I wasn't having to lean against it potentially damaging/scratching it.

Hi,
The workshop manual is 'TOPIX' and I'm certain it's a Jaguar/Landrover publication. I bought mine on a CD via EBay however I seem to remember that it's also on this forum. Perhaps another member can add the link. It's also on the net.
.
From experience with this manual and the other well known manual publisher; it's always important to read twice and study your vehicle well before starting. Manuals very often tell you to undo and remove far too many parts to reach the item in question. The less you interfere with the better.
.
Happy hunting for the manual and kind regards from Fred 2010GS Auto ex Celeb, Santorini Black, 2011 facelift , spoiler, spats, mudflaps, LED footwell lamps, Witter detach,

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue

I had a couple of occassions when my 2007 TD4 would not start and many occassions when HDC etc. was not available as I went through the start up routine. It was (and still is) a relatively low mileage car but was still on the original battery. A new battery sorted all the problems. No problems since even in the depths of winter.

How can you delete someone's post link when it has been hosted on the forum for over a year and still is Confused If it breaches copyright then remove all traces of it.

It has been removed before and will continue to be removed when we see it.
If occasionally things slip by then it's because we also have better things to do.

Maybe I will stop bothering and just let things pass then Rolling Eyes

Calm down, all EY is saying is you've removed the link from the post today, but it still exists elsewhere on this site if you know where to look, its slipped by. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Zermatt Silver

I've had the same issue regarding the HDC failure message. Not entirely sure if the battery is the original but the terminals are white and corroded so due a clean up. I'm looking to get an earthing strap this week. Does anyone know what ring sizes are required to attach to the battery and starter motor plus length?? 2007 LR Freelander 2 GS - factory tints, LR mud flaps, 2013 facelift)
Problems/solutions include: rear diff pinion replaced, stearing rack and pump replaced, alternator earth cable replaced (plus new alternator as misdiagnosed), throttle body replaced, MAP sensor replaced, secondary earth cable...

There is another post in here worth a look, it's called 'HDC problems.....' About page 4 gives length of 31 inches but later tells you it's a bit too short ; ring terminals are detailed as 10 mm hole one end and 6mm the other end.
.
Hope thus helps
.

That's great thanks. Would wire rated at 170 amps be suitable or is it worth going for 240 amp? Another job for the weekend so intending to pick up everything tomorrow. 2007 LR Freelander 2 GS - factory tints, LR mud flaps, 2013 facelift)
