United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Manual Santorini Black
First 6 months of ownership

Thought I'd post a little update in case anyone else is thinking of buying a used example. I went for a 2007 GS model with 85,000 miles on the clock and was a bit worried about reliability so purchased a dealer warranty for peace of mind. In the 6 months of ownership I have managed to get about 30 mpg in and around town on average, and regulary get 42-43mpg on a motorway journey. It isn't a cheap car to fuel but I've known a lot worse.

Reliability has been pretty good. When the car was delivered it had a few niggles that I put right (I am OCD with cars so I put even the smallest of squeaks right) but 'new' problems have only been airbag warning light which turned out to be a £50 crash sensor and the aux belt idle/tensioner making a bit of a racket which was about £100 for replacing both. Tyre wear in 6 months is not noticeable to the eye and I've done 10,000 miles since I bought it. Overall this is quite pleasing for a 6 year old 4x4 I think. Oh and I had the flywheel replaced under warranty very soon after I bought it.

I use my local specialist for repairs and servicing and he is brilliant. I service every 10,000 instead of the 15,000 interval to place safe. I've also used Forte Diesel treatment and turbo cleaner for added peace of mind and feed it nothing but premium diesel to help lower the risk of injector/turbo failure.

The car itself is, like nearly every other report on here beautiful to drive and enjoy every inch driven!

If you are in two minds whether to get one or not, I cannot recommend one highly enough!!

England 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black

The one I have just bought has similar mileage, had a new turbo actuator fitted pre delivery and so far seems fine, new tyres probably next year so overall pleases so far, and Mrs MR likes it too so that's a bonus. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

Scotland 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi only had mine since November it's a 2007 also, se model, touch wood not had any problems yet, had to get a software update done as sometimes didn't start when button pushed, read about this on here.

Already done a few mods tinted windows, side steps, side repeaters, new face lifted bumper arrived from rc automotive and now away for spraying.

Absolutely love this car had a 2013 honda civic with 3000 miles on clock but traded in for the freelander, wife said I was mad trading in for a older car with 70.000 mls but now she's looking for parts for me to mod lol.

Yea it's heavy a bit on the fuel compared to my other cars average 31 mpg, but I knew that before I bought it. I did read a lot about them on this very site before if made the purchase, and after reading good comments I took the plunge. Best car I've had so far..😊

Cheers
Ian
