Good News!

The JLR engine plant in Wolverhampton will start producing engines in April/May this year, and the baby Jag will be developed purely with this engine range.

But.....the word is, that the Evoque will be getting the new Hotfire petrol and Diesel engines possibly as soon as the 2015MY from Sepetember.!

This also means that it is highly unlikely that the Freelanders replacement will use the old engines! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Great lets hope these new engines have better fuel ecomony and less emissions than the competition 1995 P38 now dead

How long have JLR been developing the new engines? Gone:

The new engines have been in development for the past few years.

They will start with the 2.0 4 cylinder units, which are a modular design and the same block will be used for both petrol and Diesel engines. Which means the petrol engine should be bullet proof as normally diesel blocks are a lot stronger than petrol.

The four cylinder petrol will be capable of being run between 150bhp and over 400bhp.

6 cylinder engines are to follow all using turbo technology.

There will be in the Defender replacement when ever it arrives. But I can't see any other pick up being done.

The 1.6 turbo engine that Gaydon are playing with also has a gas turbine 'jet' engine piggy backed on. So I doubt this will make production.
