On a Td5 Discovery I had some years ago you could hear the turbo spooling down for some time after the engine was switched off (yes, even when it had ticked over for a short time before switching off). It did sound like a small jet engine slowing down. The pitch did decrease with time though as it slowed. Could it be a similar noise that you hear, or is it a constant pitch?

Nicam - on the Td5 it wasn't the turbo but the centrifugal oil filter

I don’t know on a Free 2, I have had 4 Freelander (3 V6s and 1 TD4), still having one, and there is a small vent, that still running few minutes for an electric unit. I don’t know exactly what it is (can be ECU ). It is black box at the rear left side of motor compartment. I haven’t heard on my present TD4, I will take an ear! Yuri

About the strange noise. I have been to two dealers and heard that same high beep sound. Strange. Dealer also did not know what it was.

Because I ordered mine (diesel automatic as well) end of January and I'm waiting impatiently to get it... So the delivery time of yours was 5 months which means mine should be ready end of June.

Your dealer has a clear view on when the car arrives. Since last week my car is coming earlier than expected, It moved from 15 april to 10 april, so if i was you I would ask for the date Landrover has communicated to your Dealer. About 12 days before delivery at the dealer your dealer receives the invoice, so when the invoice arrives you can be sure the car will show up at the dealers's location in about two weeks and you can drive it in 3 weeks. |
