Hi PuffyMcScrote
Whilst I do not deny your input on this topic I just wonder if you have any idea of the magnitude of this proposal's impact. Let me just put it into your local context in the state of VA.

You have an approximate play ground of 102,548 sq. kms to roam around - that's about 39,504 sq. miles. Grand.
The Peak District is an approximate landmass of a mere 1,437 sq. kms - or 554 sq. miles. Not so grand. Tiny in fact.

Now take into account that the Park attracts over 24million visitors (national and international) per annum that equates to a footfall of 45,126 per square mile. It just doesn't need and cannot cope with anymore stress to its infrastructure and wilderness.

Green lanes are historical byways built centuries ago for packhorses and carts - not motorised vehicles of any size or type. They were there to transport goods across the landscape hundreds of years before it was designated a "National Park". Today these green lanes remain rough tracks of vital access for farmers, cyclists and hikers.

You may find the following link - which is not a petition site - of interest. Do come to Derbyshire whenever you are visiting England's green and pleasant pastures. www.peakdistrict.gov.uk Thumbs Up
