Starting issues

Hi Guys, I bought my MY07 (2.2 GS) FL2 in December and all has been going well. However, on a few occasions (5 or so), when putting the key into the car, then pressing the start/stop button, rather than starting the car up, I instead get a BEEP. The engine doesn't start, but I get a solid fuel filler light and an oil warning light (same as a normal start). The key then needs to be removed and the process starting again. It always starts second time, but when the engine DOES start, the trip computer, range, MPG and everything else is reset to 0............

This happens regardless of how much fuel I have in the car.

Any ideas?. It's not a massive PITA, but everything being reset to 0 and the range and MPG needing to be relearned is a pain as I don't know how much fuel I have in the tank until I've driven it for a while.

Any help, as ever, greatly appreciated. Is this something the dealer would be able to track down when it's plugged into the diagnostic machine?

Rich

Hi Rich, afraid I can't help with any technical knowledge. I do think though that if you bought from a dealer you should get the car back to them asap and let them work this out! Advice and suggestions here might give you some good ideas to pass on to the dealer of course!

In any event I hope it turns out to be something simple and easily remedied - good luck!

I seem to recall this or something similar came up a while ago and the consensus was to dock the fob then wait a few seconds whilst fastening the seat belt then start the engine, it would appear that if you start as soon as the fob is docked it can cause problems.
Then again someone wiser than me could come along with a different answer.

Being one of the old 2007 lot, it may need a software update as I recall that was a service action for the cars that keep resetting the trip information and didn't start.

Yes, I had these faults and was rectified with the software upgrade. About 30 minutes labour. Thumbs Up

(Generally your trip mileage resets itself too!)

Hi Guy, just some feedback in case anyone else has the same issues, it was indeed a software upgrade that was needed, I had it done and now the problems seem to have been fixed. The main dealer wanted £32 for the upgrade, but then did it for free, but it wasn't covered as part of the warranty.

Cheers for the advice Guys.
