Loss of Power

Any help gratefully received.

Had my FR2 from new. 6 months before end of warranty developed an intermittent sudden loss of power fault making overtaking dangerous. This always happened after about 30 miles and when accelerating away... usually out of a bend, but sometimes just going along normally. No warning lights. Switching off and removing fob would re-set. However it was intermittent and sometime would just not happen over a few hundred miles..usually when trying to take to garage to help identify! Importantly vehicle was never in limp mode it just would not accelerate with any power though eventually will reach 70 mph but gets very slow when any sort of incline reached.

The diagnostics showed nunber 1 cyclinder closing down. After checking all the obvious and three days in garage they diagnosed a faulty ERG valve and replaced it (obviously under warranty).

For next few months fine...however only did short journeys and very low milage...less than 1500. Then shortly after warranty ended it started to happen again. This time they diagnosed a leaking NO 1 injector apparently filling an area and then shorting something. This was replaced on a part goodwill basis at over £600.

First journey over 30 miles afterwards the fault still exist so all that money was wasted. I have noticed that it appears to accelerate normally till about 2000 rpm then at that point you there is no additional power..almost as if the turbo is not cutting in but I am no engineer and do not know if turbo is constant or actually does cut in at certain revs/demand.

If there is anyone who knows what this might be then would be grateful.

ps. the twist to this is my FR! is over 16 years old and from new have never had a single fault!

Italy 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e S Manual Santorini Black

just my 2c worth... Whistle

sound like exactly what was happening to me the last cold spell..
had filled with regular Diesel, and when it got to - 10 C the Diesel was waxing up...
so my car of the time (Ford C.Max diesel) would be perfect until you went above 2000 RPM.. then it would reduce power, slow down.. and felt like it ran out of juice !
stopping and re-starting reset all, and went normally until next time
this was due to the diesel being sludgy and not flowing as it should.

moral of the story...
did u check your diesel supply lines / pump ?
are you filling up in the same place ?
have you tried to put a cleaner additive in with yr full tank ?
