I am considering buying an engine preheater and came across this on the bay of fleas and wondered if anybody has bought and fitted one. Is it any good? It is a lot cheaper than the Kenlowe. It is 2Kw rather than the 2.7Kw Kenlowe. Any advice welcome.

An engine cooling fluid preheater is always a good thing, especially on minus degrees temperatures.
Seems a simple construction, I don't think that there's something that could go wrong if properly installed.
I hope you saw that must be plugged into a 240V electrical outlet... This isn't a problem into a garage, but for an outdoor parking place...
And that adverted 0.33 liter (one drink dose) per second flow rate seems a little unrealistic...

I bought one of these and will install it when I get some time and post how it went.
A question: The instructions are to install it in series with the heater i.e. connect by adding a pipe from the heater inlet hose via a T joint (supplied) to the heater unit and then to to the heater outlet pipe via another T joint. However it also states:
"Please note that this unit can be installed inline with the vehicles cabin heater, however the water control valve MUST remain open when the pre heater is in operation. Please double check the valve will remain open when the vehicle is turned off as some valves are spring loaded to shut when the power is turned off."

There is no water control valve in FL2...
Don't confuse it with the thermostat and its bypass valve.
So install it without fear in series with the cabin heater.
In fact this is the installation layout in the case of FFBH (Fuel Fired Booster Heater). In series with the internal heater matrix.

surely it says 1200 l/hr Flow Rate much slower than an average garden tap, so against no back pressure its believable, but once installed it must surely be slower, of little relevance really as long as it circulates water faster than the element heats it At work

The heater on my pond is can cope with a maximum of 1000 l/ph and that's through inch and a half pressure pipe. Somthat one must create a fair bit of pressure at 1200 l/ph ?

Must remember to turn them down 2 x 3 kw heaters, the wife will hit the roof when the electric bill comes in

I am also interested in doing it.

I bought the pre-heater but never got round to fitting it. I have now retired so I don't need to warm up the car in the morning to go to work.

Anyone who knows how to install a preheater. Wondering which hose you should use,the upper or lower hose on the radiator and which way the water flow so the preheater is oriented correctly.

The only wonder I have now is..... Which hose should I cut and install the preheater?
The inlet hose or the outlet hose from the heater matrix??

See the link on my original post to the heater I bought on ebay. It gives instructions on how to connect the heater.
