I am considering buying an engine preheater and came across this on the bay of fleas and wondered if anybody has bought and fitted one. Is it any good? It is a lot cheaper than the Kenlowe. It is 2Kw rather than the 2.7Kw Kenlowe. Any advice welcome.

Thanks Alex, I park close to my garage so I intend to fit a 240v snap connector socket (for when I forget and just drive off) under the wheel arch or bumper to a short caravan type mains supply cable connected to a mains outlet with a timer. Well that's the outline plan. I intend to post how it goes when I get round to fitting it. Yes, .33 litres/second seems high! Anybody fitted any sort of pre-heater? If so, I would appreciate any advice on where is best place to fit the snap away 240v connector. I may put it next to my tow electrics as the nearest to the outlet and will do the least damage if I foget and drive away forward. Howevr, it means routing the cable all the way to the rear and more risk of 240v cable chafing/shorting. surely it says 1200 l/hr Flow Rate much slower than an average garden tap, so against no back pressure its believable, but once installed it must surely be slower, of little relevance really as long as it circulates water faster than the element heats it At work |

The heater on my pond is can cope with a maximum of 1000 l/ph and that's through inch and a half pressure pipe. Somthat one must create a fair bit of pressure at 1200 l/ph ?

I bought the pre-heater but never got round to fitting it. I have now retired so I don't need to warm up the car in the morning to go to work.

Anyone who knows how to install a preheater. Wondering which hose you should use,the upper or lower hose on the radiator and which way the water flow so the preheater is oriented correctly. |

See the link on my original post to the heater I bought on ebay. It gives instructions on how to connect the heater.
