Engine Type

I know this may sound stupid - please bear in mind I've only owned my FL2 for two days - how can I tell if my engine is a TD4 or SD4?

If it's an my07, as per your avatar, it's a TD4 - the SD4 didn't come in until much later.

Generally, though, it'll say so on the back!

When SD4 came out in 2010, apart from the fact it had SD4 on the back, the front grill is silver instead of grey, and the bottoms of the bumpers and door caps are body colour.

The pre-facelift had full colour coding on all HSE's, but after the facelift, all TD4's regardless of model, went back to black plastic lower trim. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Failing that, remove the O/S Headlamp and there should be a sticker attached to the inner wing telling you what it is in big black letters Thumbs Up Foraging near Gaydon....

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Buckingham Blue

the best way I found to locate all the details of my 2011MY was to register and enter the VIN on the Land Rover TOPiX website.

Helped me figure out that my car was buckingham blue and not baltic blue as I had thought when I bought it!

It also had the full build specification listed.

I don't know if Land Rover has been doing this for the complete period from 2007 to date though. Maybe some one on here knows more?
