K&N Highflow filters

Hi, I've ordered one, primarily because it's the last filter the car will ever need but has anyone else fitted one? Any reports on improved MPG or performance?

Thanks

Just be aware that K&N filters allow more air to pass but also more dirt; the filtration pore size is not a small as the paper element. I know they last and can be cleaned but I would sooner replace the OE element twice as often as service requires in order to keep it clean and free-flowing. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

Cheers, but at £40 plus postage I think I'll stick to the paper one Exclamation

Would have to seriously increase MPG to warrant buying one in my opinion but any feedback you can give when you have it installed would be appreciated Thumbs Up ______________________

I have had one fitted for nearly a month and I have seen my mpg go up to 37.5 on my usual trip. it was 35.6 before. I do have an ECU remap as well, it may just be my imagination that the two upgrades have made the difference or is my engine just getting fully loosened up now? (10800miles) Very Happy

!

your mpg improvement could also be due to the weather, my auto has found itself another 4mpg over the last couple of weeks with the sun out

My mpg stayed constant throughout the past cold spell. In the last couple of thousand miles I have noticed better fuel economy. Very Happy

K&N filters are actually very good, no problem to fit one of those. I've used them on all my weekend/second/sports cars for literally decades and decades. Really rate them. On its own you won't see any improvement but it allows other tuning mods like remaps to work all the better. Its the oil embedded foam HKS types you have to be wary of, complete garbage, all of them. 58 HSE, auto, lago grey, tints. Mine and my dogs Storm and Sky

I am a newbie member to the forum so hello to all! To follow this thread it seems that a K&N filter accompanied with a bluefin upgrade seems to be the order of the day for relatively inexpensive way to gain a few mpg and an easier breathing engine! Very Happy

Laughing

more power and more air might help, but then the grin of more power with a heavy foot might negate the possible increase Whistle

i know people who have run bluefin and been please, one showed a small increase in mpg, the other had no change, but reported the car been a little more pleasurable to drive as it pulled through the gears better

depends on what style of driving you do, start stop inner town driving see me get 24mpg through the year, but 32mpg on a long run if im not chasing BMWs

A K&N air filter made no difference at all when i tried it
