i have a tyrepal and the sensors screw on to the valves

though today i wanted to top up the air, only the two front sensors are stuck on the valves

I have tried clamping the valve with pliers to stop it rotating, but could not get enough force to get the sensor rotating, so have resorted to a tiny spray of WD40 to hopefull free the valve

Tyrepal, say remove the sensors each month, especially in winter due to salt speeding up corrosion, but its just been over a month since i last did it, they also recommend a wd40 spray or silicone grease to help prevent it

Any other ideas, appart from a visit to a tyre fitter and having new valves fitted

just freed one, by clamping and using a second set of pliers to rotate it and it looks to have corroded slightly on the thread, the other wont budge, so another liberal spray of wd40 and I'll leave it a while to soak in

obviously taking precaustions not to spray near the brakes

Perhaps try a little copperslip on the thread instead of WD40

once i get the remaining one off, i think something like that is the way to go

The problem is caused by two metals, the silver sensor (i assume aluminium) and the brass valve reacting with each other and the corrosion jamming the thread

I'd agree with the use of a copper grease when re-fitting, but you've still got to get them off first. For that a proper penetrating lubricant such as PlusGas will work better than WD40.

well a new set of pliers and the sensor is off

now i need a new sensor, and a new tyre valve as in doing so the threads have stripped off,

so tyrepal tell me its not something they are willing to assist with, even though i looked after them as they directed, removing them to prevent corrosion, so just over a month since i last did it and they tel me i have to buy a new sensor for £35.00
