United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Indus Silver

By the way how can I be sure it's a MY12? Is it marked anywhere?

Hi Chris, you don't need to worry about year. As mentioned before, look at the clear glass of the headlight under the main beam, it will read H7. Again on the glass under the dip beam it should read H11 / D1S; H11 is the standard halogen bulb; D1S refers to the xenon bulb of high spec cars which have HID xenon fitted as standard, (or factory option).
(For owners of pre 2011 facelift the dip will read H7).
Bit of info-- your H7's will come out still attached to the bulb holder. When installing you place the bulb into position in its seat and YOU MUST carefully inspect to see its seated in all 3 ears and only then push in the wiring connector. Do not try fitting the new bulb to the connector and then try clipping it in, it doesn't work that way!
Also never ever touch the bulb glass with fingers as finger grease will prematurely make the bulb blow. Use meths and a clean rag to clean any bulb glass that you touch by mistake.
Hope this helps.
.
Kind regards from Fred

Most people seem to have fitted the Osram Night Breakers to replace dipped beam originals and seem to be very pleased with them.
So my question is, has anybody on here fitted Night Breaker lamps to both dipped and main beam, and if so what are their opinions of the advantages/improvement or otherwise of the main beam performance?

OK so purchased 4 NBU from Advanced Factors at total cost of £36.00 and am very pleased with improvement of both dipped and mains especially down the local unlit country lanes.

Total fitting time less than 15 minutes and original lamps now stored in NBU packaging for emergency use.

MY13 halogen has HB3, one bulb does main and dip so buy two in total.

If it has factory fit xenon lights then there won't be a headlamp levelling switch/dial down to the right of the steering wheel, on MY2013 cars it is to the right of a tiny cubby hole and the dial for adjusting the instrument light brightness. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

I have the dial so must be halogen, thamks for the quick response folks. I now need to research HB3 upgrades but the consensus seems to be Osram nightbreakers are the ones to go for. Freelander 1 GS Kalahari March 03 Black

I'm using Osrams new 'unlimited' brand in an HB3 and there is a noticeable improvement.

I've compared NBU and RING xenon ultima and the RING units definately seem better.
The name is a bit confusing as they use xenon gas but are used in place of halogen bulbs.

Regards
Chris
