The only difference between the 150 and the 190 is the software.

Going back to fredastaire's post, so why does a software change to purchase a 190bhp over a 150bhp auto cost £1000?(according to a 2013 price list). Not aware of any differences in trim spec. A 'S' instead of a 'T' on the boot. Are there not different injectors though? Is this all about added value, marketing? 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Good question Andrew.
I've read on this Forum that its only software and been very puzzled and disbelieving.
.
Then.....I was on the recent Forum organised Halewood visit and whilst going around the factory one of our Freel members asked the question of the tour guide, he confirmed that the extra umph was purely a software change and that mechanically everything is the same.
.
Perhaps £5.00 pays for the software and £995.00 goes into the warranty pot.
.
The replacement engine (2009 dated but 2011 spec), that I fitted last year to my 2010 did have injectors with different part numbers to my 2010 engine which I took out. (I've still got the injectors and HP pump in my garage).
.
The 190/150 later engines do have a bigger water cooled turbo than the earlier 160 engines.
.
Kind regards from Fred
