United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue
Direct line home insurance thumbs

Before x-mas we suffered some damage to our roof on our houses after a huge gust of wind , we live high up on a ridge.
Numerous houses around us also lost their ridge tiles.

We called the insurance and they said they would need to send an assessor ! So we waited and wait for an assessor ! He arrived on Sunday and took one look and said get a quote and send it in !

Fantastic ! We could of done that a few weeks ago ! But now due to the storms and flooding we can't get hold of a builder for a quote and the insurance assessor said if he got hold of someone it would be around September 2014

Should of just got someone in to repair but those builders that I have spoken too all said they won't go up over 6 mtrs.
I wonder whether to have scaffolding put up or hire a cherry picker and do myself ? Jaguar x-type sport gone
Jaguar x-type 2.2d sport one of my best cars ever sadly gone

Yep, you're right.
Scaffolding job. And adds lots to the cost.
Can't blame them really, I wouldn't go that high on a ladder.
I painted the rendering on a house of mine some 20 years ago and hired the scaffolding. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I recommend hiring the gear from your nearest Brandon Tool Hire depot. My dad is the manager of our local branch and has been manager there (albeit under various owners and company names) for 40 years Thumbs Up

Just speak to the manager for a quote and say the son of Dave Wright (Alfreton Depot manager) has referred you to them. Not saying they will offer a discount but you never know Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Auto Sumatra Black

I had a leaking roof a few years back. We knew a builder who had done a couple of minor roof repairs for us in the past. When he called around he climbed up through a velux window in the loft, scambled about for 10 minutes then climbed back in the window. My wife was watching him all the time through the second velux and she was like Shocked Turned out to be the render had blown, he came back with his ladders and did the job for 40 quid cash.

We moved into a bungalow and while having the loft converted we had our ridge tiles replaced. Again our buider (different fella) used ladders, no scaffolding. He even changed the ridge tiles on the semi next door, just used ladders, no scaffolding. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
