Anyone got any idea how much 4 new discs and pads all round would cost from a LR dealer or Indy dealer...

Last month I paid £230 inc vat for front discs and pads at my Indy in Congleton. They weren't LR parts but quality copies - service receptionist thought Mintex. Seem fine after 1000 miles so far. Sorry cant help with rears. FL2 2007 57 GS

I had all round discs pads and rear shoes done a couple of years ago at an indy and was about 400-450 quid odd I think.

£150 front pads only at a main dealer last year. Got Alligence discount.

Just gave my local garage a call AJD Landrovers for a few quotes
Rear discs £50
Rear pads £24
Front discs £50
Front pads £19

Also got a quote for service and MOT

Full service £375
MOT £52

For the whole lot with VAT and labour - came in at £845

Hey Slaney, a man of your talents with all the mods you do etc would you consider doing the brakes yourself? I've never done brakes before so cant really comment on how easy it is but I'd like to have a go at mine when they need doing.

When I got my FL2 serviced at an indy last year we started chatting about brakes, the fella told me to stay away from Mintex (don't know why), he said he either fitted Padgit or TWR. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I might have to bump my wifes life insurance up and change her pads and discs on her car!

I fancy doing mine when the time comes, but ideally could do with someone showing me that knows what they are doing. Perhaps a Freel2 meet in a layby somewhere for a quick course on brake changing, imagine, 5 or 6 cars all jacked up with the wheels off!

Slaney, it's so easy to do yourself mate. Took me about 2 hours to do the lot. I very much doubt your shoes will need replacing.

Have a look at Mtec brakes like I used on the last car. £225 inc VAT and postage for all four discs and pads. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Mav is right. An easy DIY prospect that will save you a load of money. I bought my discs and pads from Europarts. They are Pagid (who are OEM suppliers to some German car makers) and have been very impressed with the quality.
If you do it yourself and follow the manual you will see that it says you must replace the bolts that fix the calliper carrier to the hub. This doesn't happen in the main dealers. I asked for the bolts in the Parts Dept. and was told they don't keep them in stock and the workshop never ask for any. I spoke to a fitter who said they just use the old ones with some Loctite - so I now do the same. New pads usually come with new bolts to fit the calliper to the bracket. John
