Screenwasher lid - Grrrr

Congrats to whoever at Land Rover designed the Freelander 2 screenwash bottle lid. Opened it tonight to fill up washbottle, as bucketing rain promised tomorrow and dash showing liquid low, only to have it detach with a gust of wind and fall out of reach somewhere in the drivers side wing. One removed headlight later the cap was retrieved, turning a 2 min job into a 40 min one. I think Grrr just about sums it up...

My 2013 model has a low level warning (as I found out the other day). It also gets through screen wash a lot faster than my 07 SE! The pump seems to be on a timed burst when you operate the switch rather than only while the switch is operated so you can't just give it a quick 'blip'. In the current weather, the headlamp washer is probably using most of the fluid. The other thing that was a pain at first was to wash the rear screen on the 07 model, you pulled back the stalk and pressed the end for the front screen. Now it's the other way round! Or was my 07 wired incorrectly? 2007 SE Manual : Gone and missed but 2013 HSE Lux is better!
Series IIa : Gone but hopefully still alive.

Blue Cap Flying Off

This is a well documented occurrence on FreelL2.
Simple to cure.
Use a ZipTie around the filler neck and cap.
Job done.
Never had the cap fly off since adopting that FreeL2 member tip from day one back in October'09 Thumbs Up

On the older ones the lid is attached to the neck so can't fall off!

I have one of the posh FL2's with the low washer sensor Mr. Green

I just wish they could have changed the beep noise to something different, keep thinking something else is going wrong with my FL2 when the bottle went low!! Rolling with laughter Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
